Video of Teachers Singing “We’re Not Gonna Take It” Goes Viral

The Oklahoma Department of Education id one of the latest victims of budget cuts in the country, but teachers in the state did not take the news lying down as they rallied in protest and sang “We’re Not Gonna Take It” in a video that went viral.

State agencies in Oklahoma have been enduring consistent budget cuts over the past few years, and those impacted by them have apparently had enough. The recent budget cuts Oklahoma State Department of Education caused teachers to take to the streets and protest the worsening conditions of their employment; classroom sizes getting bigger, number of students getting bigger and textbooks being scarce. Monday last week, teachers from Oklahoma went to the state capitol to pressure the legislatures to increase their funding, and a few minutes from the rally went viral. During the event, band teachers started playing Twisted Sister's 80's hit “We’re Not Gonna Take It”, which was off course filmed by the audience. The video has since gone viral with nearly a million views on Facebook, and hopefully it will have the impact the teachers rallied for.
