Generally speaking, it is better to always purchase something than rent it, especially if you’re looking at long-term use. However, when it comes to short-term use, renting is the wiser option. Planning to move to a different city, but you’re sure you won’t settle there? Well, rent a house because that’s financially wiser. But, renting isn’t just limited to houses or cars. We are moving towards what is called a sharing economy, which has allowed businesses and individuals to apply the rental concept to a host of other products and services. In this blog, we’ll be listing out a few of those products and services. Keep reading and Happy renting!Wedding CakesWeddings are expensive and the wedding cake contributes to this in a big way. But, guess what? You can now rent a wedding cake. Of course, this sounds extremely odd. So, let us explain. Rental wedding cakes aren’t real. They’re made up of Styrofoam, but, you have a cut-out spot where a real piece is inserted for ceremonies such as the cake-cutting. Then, you simply roll the “fake” cake into the kitchen and bring out pieces of sheet cake instead with matching icing. Sheet cake is a much cheaper option, especially if you’re catering to an extensive guest list. CasketsLike weddings, funerals are expensive too. Yes, even death costs money and the casket is a significant contributor to the final bill. A basic model can set you back by $2000. But, you can avoid spending all that money by simply renting a casket. The casket can be used at the funeral and the body can be transferred into a simpler box for the actual burial. You can rent caskets for about $1000. Of course, you will need to discuss this with your loved ones so that everyone is okay with it. Solar PanelsThis is a fantastic way to save money. You’re saving by not buying the panels outright and you’re saving again by actually switching to solar power. It’s a win-win situation. But, of course, it is best utilized on a short-term basis. Anyway, this is how it works – you rent the solar panels from a company. The company will send over technicians to carry out the installation. This is usually offered as a free service. But, some providers might charge a small fee. The provider will also take up the responsibility of maintenance. Payments are usually made on a per month basis. As for power, you can keep the generated power or sign it over to the provider and buy it back at a lower price point. LuggageLuggage is something that most of us don’t use on a regular basis. We buy it for those annual vacations, but they end up collecting dust the rest of the time. You don’t have to let that happen. Instead of buying, just rent luggage. There are providers like RentLuggage.com that currently offer this service. Just pick what you need and the company will send it over to you before your trip. You don’t have to deal with unused suitcases and what not occupying all that space in your home anymore. Designer WearDesigner wear is expensive and some of us just can’t afford it. But, that doesn’t mean we have to starve ourselves of some style. You can now rent clothes from your favorite designers/brands and flaunt them at the next big event. The prices are extremely low – typically, 50% of the actual cost. This is great for people who don’t want to spend on fancy clothes that are likely to be used only once or twice in a year.
