Westworld and Thor: Ragnarok star Tessa Thompson came out very matter-of-factly in a recent interview with Porter magazine. "I'm attracted to men and also to women," she says. The actress adds, "I can take things for granted because of my family . . . If I bring a woman home, [or] a man, we don't even have to have the discussion." She acknowledges that not everyone is as lucky as her in having such freedom and support from their loved ones.
Thompson's announcement follows the coming out of both Janelle Monáe and Abbi Jacobson earlier this year. For years, fans have been speculating that Thompson and Monáe are an item. Thompson was featured in Monáe's music video "Make Me Feel," which featured the two almost kissing. In the music video for "Pynk," Thompson is shown popping out of Monáe's vagina-like pants.
Regarding the two, Thompson says, "We love each other deeply. We're so close, we vibrate on the same frequency. If people want to speculate about what we are, that's ok. It doesn't bother me." At the time of the interview, while she greatly hinted at their relationship, Thompson did not come straight out and use that term. Nevertheless, fans took her hints as confirmation.
Later, Thompson tweeted, "Sometimes we cheer so loudly at someone speaking their truth, that we miss what they say. (Here's looking at you media journalism). I didn't say I was in a relationship. But I said lots of other things."
Whether the two are romantically or plantonically involved remains to be seen. Regardless, it is obvious that the pair care about each other a lot.
