LeBron James Joins LA Lakers

NBA superstar LeBron James will be leaving the Cleveland Cavaliers to join the Los Angeles Lakers on a four-year, $154 million contract. His agency, Klutch Sports Group, made the announcement on Sunday night.

James, 33, is a four-time NBA Most Valuable Player. He is also a three times NBA finals MVP, fourteen time NBA All Star, and two time Olympic gold medalist. He had been picked by the Cavaliers in 2003. He then left Cleveland to join the Miami Heat in 2010 for four seasons prior to returning to Cleveland.

While James is an Akron, Ohio native, the move to LA is not altogether unexpected, as he owns two homes there. Nevertheless, on his Instagram account, James said of the upcoming move, "Thank you Northeast Ohio for an incredible four seasons. This will always be home."

The Lakers have 16 total NBA championships under their name. They have not made the playoffs, however, in five years.  Should James help lead them to another title, he would be just the third player in the history of the NBA to win championships with three separate franchises.
