Issa Rae, the Queen of basically everything on TV right now, had fans applauding at Monday night's CFDA awards show. Rae, who made a name for herself as the voice of black Americans, showed up at the award show with a stunning Kerby Jean-Raymond dress for Pyer Moss, but the dress wasn't the thing that caught everyone's attention.
The Insecure star combined fashion with her personal views with a belt that read "Every Nigga Is A Star". The poignant phrase was actually the name of a 1973 film and song written by Boris Gardiner – a Jamaican reggae artist.
The trail blazing actress was under the spotlight not only for her fabulous belt, but also for her being the first person of color to host the CFDA awards, and the first woman to have the job in nine years.
Rae's appearance on the red carpet with her strong message made positive waves in the prestigious fashion award ceremony, and it had the twitterverse a buzzing with supportive messages on the mogul's statement.
